Transport a development priority for Luohu
Luohu recently published its plan for comprehensive transport developments over the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25).
By 2025, the district will have built an efficient transport system that can bolster its position as a port district and a transport hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, according to the plan.
Likewise, by then the comprehensive transport system is expected to provide Luohu with strong support, effectively boosting its development into a regional consumption center.
Luohu views transport development as a priority in its overall development plans, given that it will strengthen the district’s advantages as a port district to Hong Kong and facilitate a network of modern roads that will form a 45-minute transport circle reaching Dongguan and Huizhou, as well as a 60-minute transport circle reaching Guangzhou, Heyuan, Zhongshan and Zhuhai.
Moreover, Luohu will upgrade the Shenzhen Railway Station and accelerate the construction of its high-speed railway, connecting it with Jiangxi and Fujian provinces.
It will also upgrade the Wenjindu Port and accelerate the construction of the rails that connect the Luohu, Wenjindu and Liantang ports, which will boost the development of the port economic belt.
Meanwhile, Luohu will build four urban transport hubs and expedite the building of new subways and tunnels to further ease pressure on its urban transport system.
The district also recognizes the importance of improving its public transport infrastructure and services for commuters traveling between Luohu and neighboring Nanshan, Yantian and Longgang.
Luohu will continue to carry out its urban renovation projects alongside the modernization of its urban transport system, fostering a beneficial relationship between transport and commerce.
Additionally, Luohu will optimize its use of underground space, and construct mechanical three-dimensional parking facilities both on the ground level and underground, freeing up more space for cars. It will also employ a smart parking management system and promote the sharing of parking spaces. Lastly, parking areas at schools, businesses and office buildings will gradually open to local residents at night.
