Luohu builds largest disability prevention center in Guangdong
The Luohu District High-Risk Children Disability Prevention Center, the largest of its kind in Guangdong province, was set up in the Cuizhu community rehabilitation center of the Luohu Hospital Group on the morning of April 28.
After nearly three months of preparation, the Luohu Disabled Persons’ Federation and the Luohu Hospital Group signed the cooperation agreement on the center's founding to take advantage of the district’s medical resources and strengths in technology and personnel to care for children in need.
The center is a professional institution treating high-risk children with disability, integrating an expert team of pediatrics, advanced diagnosis and treatment equipment, and exquisite rehabilitation technology.
It is a manifestation of the high attention paid by the Luohu authorities to people’s livelihoods. The district has compiled the first district-level barrier-free urban development plan in the country.
Researches show that the 0-6 years old is the best time for early intervention of disability prevention. Most children can rebuild their learning, life, and social skills through early intervention, and the rehabilitation effect can be remarkable.
According to Luohu Hospital Group, there are more than 50,000 infants and young children aged 0-3 in Luohu from 2019 to 2021, and about 30,000 of them face high-risk factors. Furthermore, most parents of high-risk children do not know much about disease screening and fail to carry out the early intervention in time, resulting in irreversible damage to their children.
The center will conduct careful surveys and provide professional treatments and services to needy families.
