Shenzhen Enterprise Confederation and Shenzhen Entrepreneur Association officially released the "2023 Shenzhen Top 500 Enterprises" list on Sept. 25. Leading the list are Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China, Ltd., Huawei Investment & Holding Co., Ltd., and Amer International Group.

The majority of listed companies - 347, or 69.4% - are privately owned, while 91, or 18.2%, are state-owned enterprises.

Private enterprises generated total revenue of 4,922.9 billion yuan (44.81%), surpassing the 3,174.4 billion yuan (28.9%) generated by state-owned enterprises.

With 204 (40.8%) entities, manufacturing companies dominate the list. Other prominent industries include wholesale and retail (84 companies, 16.8%), construction (50 companies, 10%), and various sectors such as information transmission, software and information technology services, finance, leasing, and business services.

The list highlights how enterprises with specialized and sophisticated technologies are a significant and crucial force for growth. This category comprises 167 companies (33% of the list), including champions in specific fields, little giants, and new enterprises at the provincial and municipal levels. These enterprises contribute 15% of the total revenue.
